Home Decor Adviser is an independent site about luxury candles, reed diffusers, throws, curtains and home lighting. It is written and researched by one person. There is no newsroom here and no staff of testers, and we would rather tell you that plainly than imply otherwise.
What we do
We read what each seller publishes on its live listing and what each brand publishes on its own website — weights, burn times, materials, ratings, review counts — and we hold those published figures up against each other. That sounds modest, and it is. It also turns out to be something almost nobody does, because it means reading eight brand pages instead of one and then admitting when they disagree.
- Every rating, review count and specification is read from the seller’s live listing or the brand’s own page — never from another review site.
- Where a page prints the date we read it, that is the date it was checked. About half our pages carry one today; we are adding them to the rest as each page is next re-checked.
- Where a listing contradicts itself, we quote both figures rather than the flattering one.
- Where a listing does not disclose something a buyer would want to know, we say that it does not, rather than filling the gap with an estimate.
- Nothing is included because it pays more.
What we do not do
We have not handled these products. We have not burned the candles, timed them, or smelled them, and every page on this site says so. Anyone claiming to have burned a shelf of luxury candles to completion under controlled conditions is describing several hundred hours of work, and you are entitled to ask them how, when, and how many samples. We cannot answer those questions, so we do not make the claim.
What we can do is read carefully, show our working, and be specific enough that you can check us. If a figure on this site is wrong, it is checkable against the source we name, which is the point.

Corrections
Brands and sellers change their published specifications without notice, and we get things wrong too. When we do, we fix the figure and leave a dated note on the page saying what changed and why — we would rather correct a number than defend it. If something here does not match what the source publishes, tell us.
